About Me

I am a 42 yr old mother to 3 beautiful children, ages 19, 15,and 9. (two have type 1 diabetes.) I am married to my best friend for over 18 yrs. My life has been amazingly turned around by the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. Life is busy & difficult at times, but I try to remember how very blessed we are. This blog is where I talk about homemaking, homeschooling, struggles we face with our daughter and the challanges of day to day life with juvenile diabetes.

Spring is here :) and everything is new... including my car! Well new to me anyway. After faithfully carrying us around for 7 yrs my durango gave out, my hubby found me a great 2007 impala, it is so nice.. I just love it. And the gas mileage is wonderful, much better then the durango or harry's work truck! I hope it lasts as well as the durango did, Autumn has set her mind on taking over the payment after I am out of school and able to get another car for myself, she wants this one..

It's been so busy I haven't posted in weeks.. I am happy to report that dd is out of the court system and her fins has been dropped at our request, we feel she is doing so much better right now. :) She has been allowed to go out on the weekends and she has came home on time! She has been doing well with her school work and helping out at home even without being asked! No cutting or unstable behavior for many weeks now. We are just thrilled with how well she is doing, I think this latest medication change has finally addressed some of the neuro chemicals she was lacking, it is like having the Autumn we knew was inside her, finally living with us.
Homeschooling is going well for all, it is most difficult for Z, he tends to be a bit lazy and get board easy, he needs a project to keep busy with but I haven't came up with anything yet..
RN school is HARD, but going well, It am counting the weeks until it's over!! We have decided that if at all possible we are going to take the family to Disney next year in celebration of my RN completion, of coarse it will depend on us being able to scrimp and save the money but it gives me something to look forword too.
I am ready for spring and have gotten my garden seeds ready to start indoors, this year I am trying sweet corn, my husband thinks this is a waste of time and that it will not work out but I am stubborn and am giving it a go anyways.. and I still want chickens... blessings Lisa

Quick update, I am so busy every day I hardly have time to wash a load of clothes or cook a meal. I am taking intro to algebra during summer I session, this breaks down to a semester of algebra in 18 days! Class is every day Mon- Thurs and we a moving at the speed of light.. In the first five days we have covered solving equations for x, percent (rb=a) problems, mixture (dry & wet) problems, distance and value word problems, literal equations, & solving inequalities. Plus a quiz each day. This is an area that I struggle in, pray for God to continue to help me see the info in a way that I understand & can use it. It is very hard for me.

My baby girl turned sweet 16 Monday. I had hoped she would be home by her birthday, it looks like we are still a ways from that. So a few of her best friends and I drove to little rock for a surprise b-day lunch at shorty smalls then some shopping at the mall. She was very surprised to see her friends when we got to the restaurant. She was so happy, it was a great time. I miss her so much.
The boys are spending lots of afternoons at the pool & loving it. It works out while I am in class for them to be swimming, Ashley is watching them two days a week for me, Gran takes them on Thursdays. This week is VBS at our church, It has been hard to keep up with the crafts while in class ( I didn't think math would be so hard or I would not have taken crafts this year) Last night I had to miss so that I could meet with our study group to prep for todays test. Poor mom, I left her all alone to wrangle 20 pre-k kids! Good thing she loves me so much or she might hold that against me :) What a great helper she has been ( I think truth be told I have been the helper and she has been the leader) THANKS MOM
The garden is doing well, we haven't harvested anything yet but lots of blooms and tiny squash & tomatoes. I will try to post pics soon.
I haven't had time to do any coupon shopping in a few weeks, I need to soon as I am running low on some staples. Blessings Lisa

My 2009 New Years Goals

1. Lose wt. I am not setting a pound mark at this time. I plan on doing this by keeping track of what I'm putting in my mouth, making good choices and limiting calories to around 1500 a day. Walking 30 mins at least 4 days a week. I have joined up with another fellow blogger for support and may check into joining wt watchers either online or the local group in town.

2. read the bible through this year. I would like to find a plan that follows a historical timeline of the bible, I will look for one this weekend online.

3. keep a written log of Z's blood sugars, I did so good at this the first couple years and then just quit writing it all down, I will start keeping his log again. It really helps to know when to make changes in his basal rates ect...

This week I am so thankful for all of our many blessings. I am thankful to have dd with us at home, I am thankful that she seems happy this past week. I am thankful that Z has no health complications from his diabetes, (every year when we have his annual eye exam and the doctor says " If I didn't know he was diabetic, I couldn't tell by looking at his eyes" I am so thankful). All complications of diabetes scare me but to imagine the our sweet boy could loose his eye sight is more than I can bear. I am thankful for our new home, I realize that this home was build by God and he only used our hands, it is his. I am thankful for my husband, for every thing he does each day for me and the kids. For God's grace, I am thankful.

sick, ready for a break..

Yuck, I have really battled this sinus infection for a while now, to start with the infection had spread to my inner ear and I spent 3 days so dizzy I didn't make it past the couch. (I had myself worried that I had a brain tumor) so I went to the Dr., lucky it was not a tumor, just a bad sinus infection. Today is the last of my antibiotics and the dizziness is gone but the congestion and pressure are awful. I finally broke down and took a darvocet pain pill last night, still didn't sleep a wink. It didn't matter how I lay one side of my face was about to explode.
So now I am trying to be nice to the kids and not bite their heads off, I am so cranky. We will be leaving soon for Tuesday school, I really want to stay home but dear daughter looks forward to going and I have been feeling a little guilty that she is home all week. Yes, I have even thought about letting her try going to public school again. The work load for my college classes is more than I thought it would be and I feel I'm not giving her enough of my time right now. Just some thoughts rattling in my head these days...
